Comparing the Motif of Change in Contemporary society in A Rose for Emily and Barn Burning up by William Faulkner

William Faulkner is the writer of two amazing testimonies, “A Rose for Emily” and “Barn Burning up.” This essay will analyze the two novels and present a evaluation on the motif of change in both novels. The two stories “Barn Burning” and “A good Rose for Emily” are symbolic of alterations in a quickly changing society. The characters from both novels seem to be to get adapting from improvements that are as a consequence of industrialization. Abner’s dad and Emily have a difficult period acknowledging and working with with the changes that have occurred in contemporary society. Due to them refusing to simply accept change, it benefits in friction with their neighbors. In “A Rose for Emily,” Emily Grierson the key character is symbolic of the old opinions. She won't accept that the environment she has been raised has changed, some earlier traditions no more bind it. She represents the persons in the south who won't accept that change has happened.
